Looking after your Tower and Accessories
Our frames, towers and accessories are constructed from high quality 6061 Aluminium which is widely used in Boatbuilding, Shipbuilding, Marine Infrastructure, Construction, and Aviation. We use 6061 Aluminium because it contains an excellent balance of rigidity, strength, low weight. and finish the metals in 3 different styles, anodised aluminium, powder coated finish and polished aluminium finish.
Anodised Aluminium
Anodised finish is best for boats and marine usages in harsh saltwater environments. This finish looks like a dull matte silver. The process of anodization involves chemical baths used to coat the surface before an electric charge is applied which increases the coating of the oxide layer, making it more durable and harder. Anodised aluminium is easy to clean/maintain and provides the best protection for saltwater sea environments.
Always rinse after each use, this is especially important in sea / saltwater environments. After rinsing make sure to wipe dry, doing regular washing with clean fresh water and wiping after with a clean microfiber cloth will keep water spots from forming and keep tower clean. There are lots of cleaning brands and formulas on the market, so when testing them for the first time always make sure you start small in a hidden spot and test first. It is a good idea to wax once or twice each season for extra protection as marine environments are tough.
Failure to follow suitable marine cleaning/maintenance procedures may result in reduced life expectancy of the component.
Powder Coat Finish
Our wakeboard / T-top Towers and hardware are powder coated in a variety of colours and makes for a nice aesthetic finish, the powder coat paint is marine grade and is not the same paint as used in the automotive industry.
Always rinse after each use, this is especially important in sea / saltwater environments. After you rinse make sure to wipe dry. Doing regular washing with clean fresh water and wiping after with a clean microfiber cloth will keep water spots from forming and remember to wax at least twice a season.
Failure to follow suitable marine cleaning/maintenance procedures may result in reduced life expectancy of the component.
Polished Aluminium Finish
Polished aluminium is raw aluminium and is physically hand buffed and shined to a mirrored finish. It is perfect for wakeboard towers, accessories and looks great.
Clean with fresh water and wipe down with a microfibre cloth after each use, this will keep water spots from forming. Over time the polished aluminium will begin to look duller. To rejuvenate the finish, it can be rebuffed, there are several suitable polishes on the market. Always make sure you test on a small hidden spot first to see the results.
Failure to follow suitable marine cleaning/maintenance procedures may result in reduced life expectancy or the component.
Canopy Cleaning
Use soapy water with mild detergent (without bleach) in a bucket and a soft scrubbing brush. Do not use bleach on the canopy. Clean and wipe over the canvas with a sponge and follow with a soft scrubbing brush, scrubbing the seams and dirtiest areas first. Then rinse and Spray the canopy with clean fresh water to rinse off the soapy water and allow to air-dry. Be aware that sunlight may fade coloured furniture over time.
Failure to follow suitable marine cleaning/maintenance procedures may result in reduced life expectancy of the component.
Other Points to remember
Movement and usage of your tower can loosen over time. Always check before you leave that all fixtures and fittings are secure, and bolts tightened.
There are lots of cleaning brands, formulas and brushes on the market, so always make sure you start small in a hidden spot and test first, do not use hard abrasives including wire wool, sand paper etc if in doubt, consult a professional cleaning supplier for further information and advice.
